Like all newcomers to online marketing I felt confused and bewildered with all of the information and advice that was available on how to do it. This can be overwhelming and the more information you get sometimes the more confused you become.

There are a number of approaches that you can try to resolve all of this confusion. These include going to seminars, getting books, watching DVD's, trawling the net and joining discussions forums on online marketing and related areas.

I have tried all of these and each does serve a useful purpose to some extent but certainly often left me with a distinct feeling of information overload, particularly when you are just starting out in online marketing.

So I sat down and said to myself "how complicated can this area really be" and I started to write down where I think you need to start and then in a logical order proceeded to write down the main steps that you need to take to get up and running and operating successfully in this business. I came up with about ten of these steps or "tips" really for my own use but I thought, what's the harm in putting them up on the net for others to read and share as necessary.

I wanted to keep these tips short and to the point and not to overly complicate them with too much detail but for them still to act as a focus and as a basic system to follow to remain on track. As it is all too easy to wander off track down some techinical or overly detailed tangent to the main business. These can cost you a lot of time and therefore, of course, money.
